The first Jamaican school team ever to play the World School Team Chess Championships, and they represented well.
History made! A WeChess-coached team became the first Jamaican school team to take part in the World School Team Chess Championships, held this year in Costa Rica.
Taking down top teams
The players went toe to toe with schools from around the world and beat some of the top teams in the event.
I couldn't be more proud of how we represented. — Coach Warren Elliott
What it means
A world-level school event is a new door for young Jamaican players. Every member of the team started the same way: one lesson, one board, one move at a time.
